Most squirrel damage comes from chewing. The squirrel is a rodent so their front teeth continually grow. This causes the squirrel to constantly chew things to keep their teeth sharp and manageable. In nature they chew tree bark, twigs and other natural hard items.

Squirrels in your attic chew electrical wiring, support beams, roof braces and electrical fixtures. They can destroy your insulation by pushing it down reducing your R-factor. Their urine and fecal matter will also contaminate your insulation. If you hear chewing or scratching in your attic, don’t hesitate to call a professional. Squirrels should not be a welcome guest in your home.
